On Sunday, May 1st 11 contestants, whom had never performed in Drag, broke all records in the 6th Annual King of Queens’s fundraising competition supporting AIDS Care Ocean State. AIDS Care Ocean State is incredibly proud to announce the grand total raised to support our programs and services was just over $40,000.

AIDS Care Ocean State (ACOS) announced the appointment of Kenneth J. Mayer as President and CEO, effective the beginning of April. He succeeds Paul Fitzgerald, who is retiring at the end of March 2016 after 27 years of service.

We are very pleased to announce that, starting this January, Nina Zanella has joined AIDS Care Ocean State as the Director of Development. Nina will oversee all fundraising initiatives and revenue streams including grants, donations & special events.

Sunday, June 7th 2015 over twenty teams participated in the first ever, AMAZING RAISE, benefitting AIDS Care Ocean State. Teams “raised” throughout downtown Providence wielding their smart phones to find clues, solve riddles & puzzles and completing challenges. The event was powered by Scavify: mobile scavenger hunts, site exploration, employee team building and training through gamification! 100% of the proceeds went directly to support AIDS Care Ocean State’s programs and services. Special congratulations to the 1st & 2nd Place Amazing Raise Winners! Way to go! We cannot thank every team enough for your enthusiasm and spirit this year! It was a definitely a close race.

While providing outreach, ACOS Prevention team discusses the need of more resources, including the life-saving drug Naloxone to prevent drug overdoses with The Providence Journal. Narcan, is an injection or nasal spray that can resuscitate people who overdose on opiates.
