2013 Philanthropists of the Year
November 4, 2013

We are honored to introduce Thomas Wright and Carol Mann as our 2013 Partners in Philanthropy!

Thomas Wright has been a volunteer at AIDS Care Ocean State for over 8 years. Tom started his affiliation with AIDS Care by hosting the very first Christmas In July block party to benefit the clients of AIDS Care back in 2004. This event still happens every July with 100% of the proceeds going to direct client services. Since that first connection with the organization Tom has become a great asset in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Tom has volunteered at just about every one of our fundraisers since 2004 helping wherever he is needed. Most recently Tom has become our Bingo Manager for our monthly bingo. The job is a thankless job but Tom every month runs the bingo in a professional manner as a volunteer and keeps the bingo running like a well-oiled machine. The monthly bingo is the largest fundraiser for the agency and without the help of Tom and dedication to the cause bingo would certainly not be as successful as it has been over the years. Tom lives in Providence with his partner Bob and is a full time employee at the Dark Lady/Alley Cat. It is our pleasure to name Thomas Wright as our Partner in Philanthropy for 2013.

Carol Mann has been a volunteer at AIDS Care Ocean State for over 10 years. Carol is a tireless volunteer and has assisted in every fundraiser held for the agency. Carol has never said no to any job we have asked her to do.  Carol has been in charge of keeping track of the tip money raised at our annual Kings of Queens show as well as the annual calendar release party! Carol is one our longest running volunteers at our monthly Bingo, selling Bingo specials every month for the last 9 years. She has become much beloved by our regular Bingo players. Carol, a resident of Warwick for the past 26 years is the mother of two daughters, Alysha Brock of Coventry (a past Partner in Philanthropy for ACOS) and TaraLyn Bonang of Warwick. She is the proud grandmother of 6 : identical twins Ariana and Alexandra, fraternal twins Cailee and Isabella , Anthony Bonang and Aubrey. Carol has worked  at Pelligrino Insurance Adjusters, Cranston, RI for the past 21 years. Carol is the true definition of what a volunteer should be and AIDS Care Ocean State is happy to have her as our Partner in Philanthropy for 2013!
