ACOS is Hiring a Client Services Director


Successful candidatewill oversee all social work and client services activities, including mentalhealth and case management, and coordinate all Ryan White services.  This is a hands-on administrative role with afocus on grant preparation, reporting, quality management and programdevelopment.


•         Providehands-on grant writing for new proposals and renewals.

•         Manage allclient services units, including Case Management, Mental Health, Peer Support,and Coexist Housing.

•         Overseeoperations of residential programs, including Sunrise House and NewTransitions.

•         Directlysupervise Mental Health/substance abuse staff, Peer Support staff, studentinterns, and all related program supervisors.

•         Maintaincommunity network of medical and social service providers to delivercomprehensive, culturally appropriate standards of care.

•         Oversee thedevelopment and implementation of goals and objectives outlined by Ryan Whitegrants.

•         Develop andoversee CQM plan and CQI.

•         Work withChief of Operations to monitor fiscal expenditures and grant-based budgets.

•         Collect, analyze and report on all clientdata.

•         Responsiblefor RSR data and CAREWare reporting on outcomes and benchmarks.

•         Interactprofessionally with grant funders such as federal HRSA, RI DOH and EOHHS.


MSW with macro focus and LICSW required; direct experiencein program planning/administration and staff supervision; experience workingwith HIV+ clients in community settings. Excellent organizational skills and experience in grant writing areessential.

Direct Care Staff/CMT

AIDS Care Ocean State is seeking a full-time CMT to provide direct client care at its 10-bed assisted living facility (Sunrise House) in Providence. The position is 2nd shift with some weekends. 

Description: Direct Care Staff/CMTs are responsible for providing an awake presence and a safe and stable living environment for the HIV+ residents of Sunrise House. Responsibilities including dispensing of medications and assisting residents with the activities of daily living (ADLs) and life skills.


• Under the direction of the Program Nurse,administer, pour and record any oral or topical drug except Schedule IINarcotics; supervise resident self-medication administration.

• Provide an awake, alert presence to monitor the facility security and psychological well-being of residents, providing companionship and support as needed; foster a safe, hospitable and respectful environment that provides a sense of personal safety and well-being for all residents.

• Assist residents with ADLs, educating and helping them build life skills and become empowered and independent.

• Interact with residents in respectful,non-judgmental, patient and tactful manner.

• Provide appropriate response in times of crisis, conflict or emergencies.

• Transport residents as assigned.

• Monitor and provide updates to service providers as part of on-going assessment of each resident's treatment plan.

• Accurately record observations in each resident's file, including activities, behaviors, vital statistics and any issues of concern; maintain familiarity with each resident's individual needs,medications and progress.

• Communicate briefly and professionally with other staff during shift changes.

• Efficiently complete and document all housekeeping chores assigned to each shift.

• Maintain client confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries at all times.

• Successfully pass quarterly assessment by Program Nurse.

• Attend all house meetings.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Nurse or Director.

Qualifications: Active Medication Technician certification (CMT) from an accredited program; demonstrated competency in safely pouring, passing and documenting medications; strong team player; sensitivity to cultural diversity, death and dying, substance abuse and mental illness;experience working with individuals with HIV, mental illness or substance abuse issues a plus; mature and able to work independently with minimal supervision;schedule flexibility; bi-lingual/bi-cultural a plus; reliable transportation,current insurance and valid driver's license required.

Title: Case Manager

Reports to: Case Management Supervisor

Position Type: Per Diem, providing coverage as needed.

Brief Description:

The Case Manager is responsible for providing individualized service planning, advocacy, practical support, education, care plan coordination, and collaboration with other providers for persons living with HIV/AIDS.


Bachelor’s or Associates degree preferred. Two years relevant social work experience with diverse populations. Strong communications and organizational skills. Active driver’s license and insured vehicle required for taking clients to appointments as necessary. Bilingual (English/Spanish)strongly preferred. Direct service to homeless people, disabled people, people in recovery from addiction are preferred.

Garden & Yard Volunteers support our clients by offering a helping hand with mowing, weeding, raking and planting flowers and plants. You needn't be a garden guru but hopefully you enjoy working outdoors in a fun and friendly environment.

Bingo Book Assembly

AIDS Care Ocean State hosts Drag Bingo from September to May each year. It is our largest monthly fundraiser, with over 500 people attending each bingo. We are in need of a large group of volunteers to assist our Bingo Manager in assembling the bingo books that are distributed each month. The time commitment is one day, to be determined between the group and our Bingo Manager. Week, week night, and weekends are available. Volunteers will assemble the bingo books at our office. We are looking for a minimum of 5 volunteers for this opportunity.

Monthly Bingo Volunteers

Interested in joining our team of dedicated Bingo Volunteers? Every month our Bingo Volunteers help out by setting up and decorating the Bingo Hall, recruiting teams of Bingo players, and selling Bingo Special Games during the evening. We seek energetic, dedicated and reliable individuals to join the team and all of the fun!

Our street outreach team goes out into the community and gives out safe sex kits, HIV testing information, toiletries, RIPTix, and referrals for additional resources to the at-risk population.
Street outreach provides the community with information on how to stay healthy, protect themselves, and protect others.

If you're not afraid to stand out, then become a Street Outreach volunteer! Our Outreach workers are easily identified by the bright yellow backpacks they each wear. 

If you have a great attitude, energy and most importantly, streetwise then come join us!

Safe Sex Kits

We distribute safe sex kits at health fairs, events, and at our Prevention Office. The kits contain safe sex materials and HIV testing information. Safe sex kits can be assembled at our office, at your home, school, business or organization. The time commitment is a minimum of one hour and can be arranged according to your schedule.

AIDS Care Ocean State is looking for HIV+ individuals who are interested in joining our Speaker’s Bureau. ACOS Speakers provide prevention and education information to a variety of groups in Rhode Island and Massachusetts by sharing their stories and speaking publicly about HIV/AIDS. If you would like to learn more and get involved OR if you would like the Speaker’s Bureau to come to your school, college or support group please contact Ray Joseph

AIDS Care Ocean State hosts numerous major fundraisers throughout the year that support our programs and services. We need volunteers for all stages of planning whether it is to sell tickets, help decorate, welcome guests, be a resource and help with all the little details that make our events amazing and exciting! 

ACOS prides itself as an organization that consistently develops and maintains successful and entertaining events. Volunteering at an event is a great way to have fun and support the work we do!  We welcome individuals and groups as well as one-time volunteers.
